"GetOut" and be Creative
This week we are going to "GetOut" to a wonderfully welcoming spot in our town that has been offering delightful times to the folks of our community for almost a decade. This location is full of creative energy, acts as a social outlet, is perfect for your party/gathering location, serves as a retreat for much needed solo time and is suited for adults, supervised children and mixed groups, alike. "Creative Sparks" is Saratoga's access to ceramic painting and mosaic design located just off of Broadway at 42 Phila Street.
You will feel the creative juices start to flow as soon as you walk through the front door of Creative Sparks and into the warm and cozy atmosphere. Once inside Anne and Hannah will be happy to help you to choose your project. Are you in the mood to paint or will you begin a mosaic adventure this time around? The ladies are always on hand to help you find the pieces you want to paint, the tools you need for your project and to keep the place well organized and always ready for new comers and old hat clients, as well. I only wish the craft area in my house was half this well kept with only three people visiting my space on a regular basis. They manage the masses in style and with ease and keep the store spotless and back to normal as soon as a party leaves or a table vacates for their allotted studio time.
Lots of Creating for Your Money
One might think that you would have to pay dearly to enjoy a studio, use all of the provided tools, have your ceramic pieces kiln fired and let someone else clean up after you. One would be wrong. The ceramic pieces start as low as $2. A single studio time can last for as much of that day that is required to complete two pieces! What a great way to spend an afternoon with your kids, your BFF or YOURSELF!!! I love the solo run that allows for much relaxing and the opportunity to set my own timing for the experience.
Your ceramic experience begins with a travel through the hundreds of premade bisque options that range from mugs, to tiles and plates and into the realm of statues of differing sizes. You then get to enter the design phase, with or without expert help. Here you map out your artistic strategy for the piece. This is not only for the truly talented! All levels of artistic ability fit perfectly into "Creative Sparks". The real fun now begins...the painting!! Take your time and get all of the colors you want onto your masterpiece. Even glaze coat if you like! Then you get to leave it in good hands for a week while it is kiln fired and set aside for safe keeping until you return to see what you have created. This can be really exciting. A lot of times, I will finish a piece and pick it up to find something completely different than I was expecting! Mosaic development is a bit different and more time consuming. Ask the ladies how to schedule your mosaic design in regard to studio time and piece selections.
